lucy 5 months

sleep at night is still not lucy's best skill, but she is so wonderful in every other way.
this month has been all about hair loss. she's been gradually losing it since birth but it's really increased and makes me so sad.
lucy has become much more interactive and fun. since she gets up before william we've started reading books in bed every morning. right now she kicks the most when we read 'brown bear brown bear'.
she loves her toys, especially her jingly lion. she's good at rolling from her stomach to her back, but not the other way yet.

lucy still loves giving smiles to anyone and she has perfected the pouty lower lip.
we love our little lucy. so does william, he calls her lucy-goosey. i love seeing them interact.

william 'reads'

one of william and my favorite activities is reading. one of his favorite books over the past year has been 'tip tip dig dig' all about construction trucks. we've read it so many times he now has it memorized. one night before bed i had him read it for the video camera.

daily life via instagram

we've stayed close to home most of january and february and have settled into a nice routine with two babies. some going-ons include first rides in the 'big' stroller for lucy.
a visit to fairyland and repeat train rides with cousin cal.
a first, not liked, hot tub experience.
a great visit to monterey bay aquarium.
the arrival of lucy's amazing baby quilt made by grandma shafer.
lots of train and car time indoors.
because everyone has been battling a never ending cold which means this girl has spent lots of time in her parents beds.
and some walks around the neighborhood.

lucy 4 months

lucy's 4th month of life has had me obsessing over sleep. for reasons i cannot figure out she has decided to stop sleeping for long stretches at night which means mom and dad aren't getting much sleep either.
during the day she continues to be a dream. she enjoys playing with toys and loves to gnaw on anything she can get in her mouth.
she's enjoys riding in the bjorn and being outside.
if you interact with her she'll give you a huge open mouthed smile. no laughs yet, but lots of smiles.
she's also started the pattern of taking a pacifier and pulling a blanket over her head when taking her naps.
she got a good health check at her doctor appointment. her current growth stats are 12 pounds 10 oz and 24 inches long.
